BOSS

I want black men to call me 'boss.'

When I'm out, and they see me

when they serve me

I want them to call me 'boss.'

Like Springsteen

or Sinatra

or Presley.

I want a title a colorful title.

It makes me feel special.

It makes me feel strong.

It makes me feel like I deserve something

like a mint julep

on my old farm

where the workers toil before me

for my pleasure

and my purse.

I want them to call me 'boss;'

or 'massah'

or 'Kingfisher'

or whatever they say these days.

Is that so wrong?
