You're right

there may very well be a possibility

for you and me.

But we have to quell it.

I have to quell it.

You see

you would hurt me.

You would hurt me badly

easily.

You, clearly, are the kind who would be good and sweet and wonderful

until suddenly

you were not.

You would hurt me

with your words

with your ways

with your winsome wonder

you would naturally hurt me.

I have experienced this before

I know

but not again.

You would hurt me

if I let you

and there must be a way

to stop that thing from happening

though I know full well it will.

But maybe if we put our

heads together

we can come up with something

to kill the pain

or perhaps prolong it.
