YOUNG MAN
He always knew hed die young.
By thirty, Ill be gone, he told those near and dear,
You better love me while Im still around
and he did his best to do the same.
Nobody believed him
and, when at fourteen,
he became depressed,
they thought it was teen-age angst
not a mid-life crisis.
But he knew his days were short.
He had premonitions
he saw signs
and they all said STOP.
He knew his days would be swift
so he should use them to the fullest.
There is a lesson to learn here
an important way to be
that we can see
from how this youth used his precious days.
He lived to be a hundred and eighty seven
by the way
but thats probably another tale to tell.
