FALL

When the Roman Empire fell

it was the worst thing possible

the worst thing imaginable.

It was the collapse of safety and joy

and happiness and civilization

and everything good that had been built for almost a thousand years?

Gone.

When the Roman Empire fell

there were tears

and blood

and lives shed.

People jumped off of columns

desperately tried to ride the last catapult out of Rome

or sold their children to barbarians.

It was bad times.

It was the worst of times.

But things got better.

Not only better than those bad days

but better than they�d ever been.

At the Fall of Rome

could anyone have seen

the Rise of England

or the Empire State Building?

The Fall of the Roman Empire

was a plague of darkness

but the light grew brighter.

And it took a thousand years

but the light of Rome is nothing compared

to that of a halogen lamp.

Things DID get better.

Even in the worst of times

the best were born.
