DESK TOY

I am a busy man

with many responsibilities

and I have little time for fun

except for this.

Every few minutes

I push the button on my desk

and the boy I pay comes in

to ask what it is I want.

I usually want nothing

and spend moments on end

trying to 'remember' what it is

I needed him for

all the while

he turns various shades of nervous.

He never knows if I will ask him to rob a sheep

or mail a file.

Usually it is nothing.

Always it is fun.
