MIRROR IMAGE

The ways we look at me are very different.

I see a ferocious tiger

mightiest fighter in the land.

You think I'm a big pussy.

My mirror shows a devious, dark

demented snake in the grass

heading forward finding prey.

You think I'm a worm

a grubbing garden variety creature

that is nothing but a pest.

I see wisdom where you perceive cowardice.

I show strength where you see silence.

I declare caring where you divine weakness.

And neither of us is right

and only one of us is wrong.

I am all these things to the two of us

at different times.

I just wish that sometimes

we could see the same thing.
