EMOTION & TEARS

She does not cry

she will not.

She is beyond such petty things

as emotion and tears.

She could not bear to break down again

after all these years.

She is strong.

She is hard.

She has calcified muscles

that used to bleed and pulse

but now

need not fear such pettiness.

She is immortal, in her way,

and nothing you could do

would attempt

should be able to change the situation.

She will not cry.

But then

that shouldn't stop you

from giving it the old college try.
