AN INSTANT

It was only once, I know

that we danced together

held one another close

embraced and joined.

It was long ago

and only for an instant

and

I can understand if it meant nothing to you

for why would one such as I resonate

compared to the people you meet

the places you've gone.

But those moments

that we shared

a figurative lifetime ago

they meant everything for me.

They were defining

refining

and I am still finding myself

in reflections of that memory.

I thought you should know

and hoped you could

for a moment see

what our past has meant to me.
