THE SICK

Everyone's sick.

We all succumb to the illness

eventually.

There is nothing to do

no treatment to take

no silver bullet

for this vampire.

We are defenseless

before the demon.

It does not make us weak.

It need not make us wary.

It should not alter our behavior

our comings and goings

must remain our own.

Nevertheless

it doesn't hurt

to be conscious

of our state

our fate

the rate of infection.

No doctor can cure it

no completely.

We serve the sick.
