HOMEGOING

Time is relative

but when youre off with your relatives,

two weeks out of the year,

it feels like the body of the year

here, alone.

The cats cry in your absence

the shower sighs.

The walls wail at night, missing your warmth

wishing you home.

I wish you home.

Im waiting here,

through each and every

interminable ticking of the tock

for your return.

And its not like

Id want to go with you

West to your family.

For time with your family

might go faster

but not better.

So, slowly

I sit alone,

waiting for your eventual homecoming.

Soon, please?
