I can't sleep

with you so far.

but haven't been

at dawn.

with so much pressing

into my tired brain

begging for release

for just a few hours.

I can't sleep

aware that you

are unaware of how I feel.

I can't sleep

and I can't speak

and I can't spell

but I can dream

that by this time tomorrow

I'll sleep justly.
