MATH OF THE MATTER

There are two trains
a bus
I have to take
to get to your neighborhood.
If I skip the bus,
it's nine blocks.
The elevator takes at least 110 seconds to arrive
and requires a good four minutes
to reach your floor.
The length from the elevator to your door
is forty-two steps
and the time it takes
for you to reach your door
after I ring the bell
is usually another two minutes
even though you buzzed me in
downstairs.
The fact that I have recognized these patterns
does not amaze you
which is unfortunate.
I feel it incredible
that I can quantify anything
with my blood pressure rising
my heart rate up
and my sweat glands so active
whenever I come to you.
