who wanted to be Cyrus,

who thought he ruled the world.

History is filled

with those who wished to control her

to master her

to be remembered as her favorite.

All the lands are made

of those who wanted to fill them

to conquer

to be the best thing

since the last best thing.

Greatness is built on those who came before

so Hitler learned

and Napoleon

and so on.

Greatness is built on the past

and the past is made from dust

and dust

comes from bone.
