MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY

It is strange

that on this most consecrated of days

while I have not one religious bone in my body

I do feel particularly faithful.

And while there is no evidence of what I believe ever coming out

I say

with utmost honesty

that on this Christmas morn

that you are the only gift I want to unwrap

your present the only one I want to open

yours is the only holy place I want to enter.

and I pray to whatever gods there be

for your conquered soul
