NEIGHBORS

Is it strange

that we should greet

so far from each of our homes

which are

in fact

so closer together?

Are you curious

why we

neighbors

for all these years

had never met

only to become

as one

on this horizon?

Do you not find it odd?

I do

and I bless

this synchronicity

or serendipity

that led you

to me

so far from where we

normally be.

I fear, though

that if we explore this truth

too roughly

we might discover

more than we sought

and lose this fragile thing

that we traveled so far to find.
