You knew me when.

You knew me when I was short.

You knew me when I was blonde.

You knew me when I was twice the man I now am.

You knew more about me than anyone else, my friend.

I called you friend

because even if you don't know me now

even if you have no sense of who I am

what I've become

and I know even less about you

I swear that we once cared

and greatly

and I would be honored

to keep you in my heart

the way I've kept you in mind

all these decades past
