SHOOTING STARS

Fame is fleeting

like a flame

once burning so hot

subsequently expended.

The fire of notoriety

can consume one

or be consumed.

Her best days are behind her

long ago

but still

she was one of the greatest

one of the most fiery torch-singers ever

and now

no one cares.

She deserves better

this blessed one.

Her fate should not be this

wretch anonymity.

She should

even as old and enfeebled as she is

explode across the heavens.

She merits more than what she has been allotted.

I will grant her a better future

a brighter past.

I shall give her a tale

that will go down in history.

I will ensure that her name lives on

far after she does.

It is what she has earned

by being such a glorious light.
