and the way for you to prove it

is to keep your distance

become distant from that past

and remember nothing that made it good.

Do not go there figuratively

literally or... existentially.

I just know you should stay away.

Turn that car right around

and call it quits.

She would not pick up the phone

to save your heart

and you think driving across town

will win hers?

Driving across TEXAS wouldn't win her heart

though Alaska is the right temperature for one such as she.

Stay away.

Leave her alone.

Or... is that what she wants?

Is she trying to save you some pain

by being the thorn in your side

the suffering that makes you stay away?

Is that her plan all along?

A mission of mercy?
