ATTRACTION

I don't know what it is

melting caps

or atom burns

or the international situation

or social unrest

but the world is changing

both internally and externally.

Some laws that seemed so irrevocable

no longer apply.

Others, however

seem to never die.

For, though the days get longer

the winters stronger

(and summers, too)

my need for you continues

unabated, unsubstantiated

though it may be

I think your pull on me

is growing each and every day.

You drag me closer to you

even as you pull me apart

and a map of my hunger

leads always to your secret treasure.

You are the pole

my compass directs to

and whatever other things may range

I doubt that will ever change.
