THE DIG

The secrets are buried

deep within the earth

in ways we would only be able to imagine

after discovery.

The planet yawns to cover itself

protecting its past

the tales it once told

so frequently

so furiously

but now

silently suppresses.

Dust rises

sands blow

dirt moves

growing, gaining grandeur

as the truth

sinks softly beneath.

Someday,

the facts will rise again.

Someday,

we shall know

what we once knew.

Someday,

the past will presently appear

before us.

Until then,

for the foreseeable future

we must continue

to dig in the dirt.
