THE VASE

So beautiful

so virginal

she remains untouched

on the pedestal

above reach

above approach

pitcher-perfect

porcelain pretty.

How I wish I could fill her with fluids

diminish her value

abase her allure.

I want to empty my bile

my basic acids

my tears and sweat

all

into her

and see if she can contain them

maintain her composure

retain that integrity

that serves her so well

leaves her unattainable

beyond reproach.

How I long to handle her shiny curves

smudging the beauty

darkening her glaze.

How much I desire

to cheapen her enough

so I could finally afford

to pay the price

to take her home.
