When you fell

and were rushed to the hospital

I rushed right after.

I fled work and sped to your side

ignoring responsibility

and danger

and law.

Red lights past right by me

as I raced to watch them

put the stitches in

then take them out again.

I ignore red lights for you

and yellow warnings

and dangerous curves

and slippery/wet signs.

Not ordinance has ever kept me from you

so why, then,

do you think this Stop sign

you've placed before me

will do a thing?
