I will not be held responsibly

for the mistakes of my youth.

Just because I was stupid and drunk

and dangerous

and I destroyed an entire species of salmon,

this is not reason enough to make me accountable

for my actions.

No jury could convict me

for my past

for that was years ago

- decades.

It was so long past,

an eternity of eras has erased the individual

I once was,

replacing him with this

weathered, beaten

different man before you.

It cannot be so.

Do not judge me for my old actions.

I could not handle such accusations today.
