GRANDPA'S WORDS
In the good old days
people didn't have legs.
They would just crawl around
hand over hand over head
dragging themselves
every which way
and whither.
Things were slower
back then, before everyone
was running about
willy-nilly,
showing off their toes and calves
and all these modern improvements.
Things were slower, sure
but we could appreciate them.
We could stop so easily
to smell the roses
- they were practically at eye level.
I'm not saying things were better back then
for who am I to judge?
But I will say
there was a reason we called those the good old days.
And one last point on the subject:
no smelly feet.
