CASTLES

I made a sand castle the other day

and it melted away.

I thought about it, and realized

what with the cold and the absence of beaches

I'd made a snow castle.

And it made me realize

how a castle is like words

ideas

that you can make them all

whenever you want

but if you don't do it at the right time or place

they'll just melt away.

Of course, if you make them at a different time,

the sea will wash them out

which I guess tells you something

though damned if I could say what.
