COMMEMORATIVE

There are important lessons to be learned

from all this.

We are not invulnerable.

Defeat

is our secret lover.

Whether we accept her embrace

or not, it is there for us

all the same.

We can be defeated

and, eventually, we WILL be defeated

crushed beneath the weight of our enemies

and they are a dense mass.

Our time is near

we can see

and, whether we count our remaining days

in weeks, months

or decades

it should be clear enough

through our evident weakness

that our demise is imminent.

There is nothing we can do.

It is already over

we were born to die

and are

at this moment

the walking dead.

And though it is an awful lesson

a hideous climax

it is at least

finally

available to us.

We have met the end

let us be sure to remember it.
