Carthage fell

and rose again

and was conquered

and crushed and burnt

and enslaved.

The city was dismantled

demolished, decimated.

Its towers razed

its people raped

its fields torched.

Carthage was trashed

and rose again

and fell again.

The fire could not destroy Carthage.

Carthage was stronger than its threats

for a while, at least.

Do you suppose, then

we could be a little bit more

like Carthage?
