THIS PARTICULAR POEM

No animals were harmed in the making of this poem.

Well, trees were killed for the paper

and the misplaced inked-on printouts poisoned a couple of pigeons.

There were eighty-three unemployment-related suicides

because of capital losses in the typewriter sector.

Two hundred and two divorces due to overwork

- both in the computer industry and former offices of mine

where stolen supplies took a serious bite out of the office managers' bonus.

Falling paper prices may have been impacted by this poem

and others of its ilk

(though on that front, specific data is unavailable).

Of course, the actual sentiments of the words included

should be considered.

Surely, humans were harmed by them.

No living creatures, then,

were harmed immediately in the making of the poem.
