They are idiots.

"Can't judge a book by its cover," they say,

they claim, but let me ask you:

what else you got?

When you can't touch a book

when you don't have time to read

when the shelf is too high

or the books are behind bars

- what are you gonna do?

There are luxuries to be had in this life

but if you don't have a friendly bookseller

who lets you manhandle his volumes

to your heart's content.

or don't even have a bookshop

but must order your text over the 'net

what options: patience

The cover is for judging.

The cover is to be seen.

The cover is how you sell the product

so suggesting it oughtn't be judged

is the way of the idiot

or worse: the communist.

I say they nay, then.

Judge the book.

Buy the cover,

and hope the sheets

live up to their promise.
