CHANGES

When neon was all the rage

some thought it was the end of civilization

the decline of something monumental.

When Playboy presented a naked Marilyn

we heard the world gasp

and thought it was all over.

When bathrooms went indoors

when PCs entered homes

when movies talked back

someone

somewhere

worried about what it might mean.

It meant the end.

It meant the apocalypse.

It meant a seismic shift in the way things worked

and it happened

again

and again

and again.

But it was only after

each of these changes

that the shit really hit the fan.
