THIS BURGER

I think I will never have a burger quite so good

as this one.

The way the bread complements the beef and cheese

all peppered by that simple strand of lettuce

cleansing the palate for the further taste to come...

There is not too much bread

nor too little

and while, perhaps,

it could be fresher

even that simple variant is piquant

symbolizing that even in perfection

there is imperfection.

Is it that alone that raises this tidy meal

into a Zen experience? No, surely not.

There is still more to appreciate.

The fries

the pickle

the red onion on the side

all so artfully arranged on the platter...

it is gorgeous, is it not?

Of course it is.

This is almost certainly the finest meal

my tongue has ever touched.

This - all this -

is the joy and glory

right here on this plate

partially because it tastes so good

but certainly just as much

because of who served it.
